MEDIA RELEASE: Future challenges on agenda at TNRM event
Protecting threatened species, innovations to shape sustainable land management and the importance of On Country management will be on the agenda at one of the largest gatherings of natural resource managers in the Northern Territory. Registrations are open for the 2021 Territory Natural Resource Management Conference held from 16-18 November, a unique event that showcases and celebrates natural resource management across the Territory. It brings together landholders, community groups, primary producers, Indigenous organisations, government, industry and businesses from across the Territory to network and learn from one another.
The three-day event offers presentations, workshops and symposium sessions with experts in water, land and biodiversity in the NT on topics from feral animal and weed management to fisheries science and understanding the carbon market.
TNRM CEO Karen May said it was the only event of its kind in the NT and provided an opportunity to bring people together to work towards sustainable management.
“The event celebrates, recognises and strengthens capacity-building, collaboration and innovation for natural resource management across the Northern Territory,” she said.
“It is through shared knowledge and understanding that collaborations can be forged to address future challenges.”
She said the 2021 NT NRM Awards held as part of the three day event would recognise excellence in natural resource management.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and thank these champions of natural resource management and the time and energy they put into to looking after our land, water and biodiversity.”
The winners of the 2021 NT NRM Awards will be announced at the much loved gala dinner, on Wednesday, 17 November at the Darwin Convention Centre.
